If the Duomo (or Cathedral) of Florence takes your breath away for its grandeur and its elegance given by the architecture with the purest lines in Florentine Gothic style surmounted by the prodigy of the Renaissance dome designed by Filippo Brunelleschi, this is precisely why we will start from there our walk! Children (and even adults) will be amazed to hear the story of the Dome and how Brunelleschi broke an egg to make his project understood. It is one of the largest cathedrals in the world and certainly one of the most astonishing due to the richness of the marble cladding of various colors. Each color has a specific meaning: red? white? green? Nothing is done by chance and children will be fascinated by why these colored marbles were used. The dome is an absolute masterpiece of art that has enchanted the world since its creation: it is the symbol of Florence, of the Renaissance and of Western humanism. We will then discover together in a sort of treasure hunt the numerous animals that hide in the marble cladding of the Cathedral, Giotto’s Bell Tower and the Baptistery as well as in the bronze doors of the Baptistery (now copies).

Palazzo Vecchio or Palazzo della Signoria is an imposing palace-fortress overlooking the splendid Piazza of the Signoria and was the seat of the city’s local government for over seven centuries and one of the most famous symbols of Florence! Even today it is the prestigious seat of the Municipality of Florence, here the Mayor of Florence has his office and the City Council meets to make decisions for the city!
